New frontend for Intertoys

Customer: Intertoys

Intertoys is the largest toy retailer in the Netherlands with a strong online and offline brand. The existing webshop was running on HCL Commerce, with the Ruby reference storefront as a basis. To better match current market expectations in terms of performance, styling and SEO, Intertoys decided to revamp the entire frontend.

Approach

Cursum implemented a new Next.js frontend, based on the existing HCL Ruby store but with significant improvements. A key component was the introduction of Server-Side Rendering (SSR) for better load times and findability.

The renewal took place while the webshop remained fully operational and the regular backlog continued. This allowed updates and optimizations to be performed in parallel without downtime.

Method

Cursum was responsible for architecture, front-end development, project management and testing.

With a phased approach and a rollback option to the old HCL Aurora storefront, continuity was guaranteed. Within six months the new frontend was successfully delivered, providing Intertoys with a modern, scalable and future-proof basis for further growth of intertoys.nl.
